Handling and Warnings
CAUTION: Materials impregnated with oil may spontaneously combust (auto-oxidation). Burn rags under supervision or dry outspread.
Linseed stand oil is heated without oxygen. This process prevents oxidation, so the drying time of the oil is somewhat slowed down while it thickens. Stand oil is very weather resistant and dries to a glossy film. It is suitable for media, has good flow properties, and yellows less than cold-pressed or refined oil. Note: The oil may form cloudy spots during prolonged storage, but this does not negatively affect the quality of the medium. This oil is suitable for pasty painting media and printing varnishes.
