The Cold Wax Medium is specially made to be used in encaustic painting and as an oil painting medium.
Cold wax is a special wax paste that can be applied at room temperature. This means that, unlike encaustic, the paint does not have to be melted before it is applied. The spreadable wax paste, which is made from beeswax, dammar resin and solvents, can be mixed and used directly with oil paints or pigments. The Cold Wax Medium is not suitable as a final picture varnish or related applications.
