Well soluble for transperent layers with good color, inunfluent by either visible light or ultraviolet light, carries practically full spectrum light, excellent flexibility for temperatures between -70° C and 150° C, low flammability, can be effective as flame retardant.Ethyl cellulose is soluble for esters, aromatic carbonated waters, alcohols, ketones and chlorinated carbohydrates, and economical solvent combinations, a consistent solution of 70 - 90% aromatic carbonated water and 10 - 30% alcohol is advisable. It is bearable with nitric cellulose, as with a wide range of oils, softeners and resins that are used as modifiers to improve hardness, gloss, adhesion and water resistance. Ethyl cellulose produces clarity, color stability and firmness, supports sheet formation in sheet media, food coatings, plastics laminations and for a diverse number of substrates. Ethyl cellulose dissolves best in a mixture of 1 part alcohol (#70805) to 4 parts aromatics (#70503 or #70520). Partially soluble/swellable in alcohol, acetone, insoluble in water or aromatics-free gasoline. ET 200 allows casting of highly transparent and flexible films.
