The Gray from Burgundy has a grayish tint and it is quite similar to the Chalk from Sarti (#58190), but it is slightly stronger. The color is suitable for watercolor, egg tempera and acrylic. Please note that the hue of the pigment changes to a warm, brownish transparent gray in all binders. The pigment has a grain size of finer 80 µ. It mixes well in water-based binders, but coarser particles remain visible in the paint coat.
In watercolor the color somewhat granulates. Burgundy Gray can also be mixed well in oil, but it tends to flow like cobalt or ultramarine pigments. For a better paint consistency we recommend to add a bit of thickener, e.g. Wax Paint Medium (#79225).
