This mineral is very rare in nature and mostly known through the South-American, Spanish and Dutch paintings after 1550. Atacamite is a very brilliant, green pigment and best suitable for neutral and watery-alkaline binders. The pigment contains little amount of quartz. Cu2Cl(OH)3, Atacamite contains chlorine and has a similar stability to malachite.
