Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is infinitely miscible with water and many solvents. Serves as a paint stripper, dissolves a variety of natural and synthetic resins, alone or mixed with alcohols, acetates and aromatics, not miscible with alkanes such as Kremer Solvent T. Evaporates slowly. Warning: penetrates well through the skin into the body, this is used medically to reduce swelling after blunt injuries. Larger concentrations and prolonged exposure are harmful.
Below 18°C DMSO becomes solid. Do not heat above 50°C, contaminated DMSO may decompose. If the DMSO smells like rotten eggs it starts to decompose.
